News From The Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is happy to receive the names of DBC members as prospective nominees for recognition as a 2024 ACS Fellow. Nominations for the 2024 Class of Fellows will be open from February 1 to April 1, 2024

Significant and career-long ACS volunteer service is a key consideration for any successful ACS Fellows nomination.  Please send the names and institutional affiliations of prospective nominees to the Chair of the Awards Commitee, David Giedroc (giedroc@indiana.edu), by the nomination deadline.

Additionally, please plan to nominate a distinguished scientist for our DBC divisional awards in 2024. These include the 2024 Bristol Myers Squibb Award in Enzyme Chemistry, the 2025 Eli Lilly Award in Biological Chemistry and the 2025 Abeles and Jencks Award for the Chemistry of Biological Processes.

The Bristol Myers Squibb Award in Enzyme Chemistry aims to recognize a prominent scientist whose research accomplishments in biochemistry or chemical biology are unusually significant and far-reaching. The application deadline is March 15, 2024 and more details can be found here.

The Eli Lilly Award in Biological Chemistry aims to stimulate fundamental research in biological chemistry by scientists within 10 years of their last postdoctoral training. The application deadline is June 15, 2024 and more details can be found here.

The Abeles and Jencks Award for the Chemistry of Biological Processes aims to acknowledge and encourage outstanding contributions to the understanding of the chemistry of biological processes, with particular emphasis on structure, function, and mechanism. The application deadline is August 1, 2024 and more details can be found here.
