ACS Publications Young Investigator awards recognize promising young investigators who have made significant and outstanding contributions to research in their respective fields. These awards are reserved for researchers who are at an early stage in their career.

Current Awards

ACS Chemical Biology Young Investigator Award

The ACS Chemical Biology Young Investigator Award was created to honor the contributions of an individual who has had a major impact on scientific research in the area of Chemical Biology and has published at least one paper in ACS Chemical Biology. Administered jointly by the Editor-in-Chief of ACS Chemical Biology and the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry, the award is celebrated by a symposium of invited speakers hosted by the Division of Biological Chemistry in the awardee’s honor at the Spring ACS National Meeting.

Gordon Hammes Scholar Award

The Gordon Hammes Scholar Award was created to recognize a young scientist who published a first-author paper in Biochemistry in the previous calendar year. Administered jointly by the Editor-in-Chief of Biochemistry and the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry, the award is also intended to foster closer relations between the ACS Publications Divisions and the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry. Undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs are eligible for this award.

ACS Infectious Diseases Young Investigator Award

The ACS Infectious Diseases Young Investigator Award was created to honor the a young scientists’ contributions to the field of infectious disease research at an early stage in their careers. Jointly administered by ACS Infectious Diseases and the ACS Division of Biological Chemistry, this award recognizes three outstanding early career investigators conducting infectious disease research.
