Leonardo Betancurt Receives the 2024 Founders Award

Leonardo (Leo) Betancurt is the recipient of the 2024 Founders Award. He is a Ph.D. Candidate jointly researching with Kelly Zatopek’s lab at New England Biolabs and Ludovic Sauguet’s lab at Institut Pasteur and gave his talk, “Proofreading mechanism for family D DNA polymerases” at the 2024 Enzyme Mechanisms Conference in Naples, FL.

Established in 2008, the Founders Award was created to support the participation of students and/or postdocs at the Winter Enzyme Mechanisms Conference (EMC). The award consists of travel support up to $2,000 for one graduate student or postdoc to attend the biannual Winter EMC and is administered by the Division of Biological Chemistry (DBC) of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
