DBC Social Media Organizer, Eric Kohn, Selected as a 2024 CAS Future Leader

The Division of Biological Chemistry would like to congratulate all of the Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars selected to participate in the 2024 CAS Future Leaders Program! And an extra special shout-out to the division’s own social media organizer, Eric Kohn!

CAS Future Leaders is a unique program that provides young scientists with leadership training and connections to peers from around the world. Each year, only 35 young scientists are selected to participate in the program. They have the opportunity to attend workshops taught by industry thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and professional communicators, among several other perks.

Well on his way to finishing his fifth year as a graduate student at the University of Madison-Wisconsin, Eric’s research focuses on new methods of modifying, discovering, and using DNA-based receptors known as aptamers. He has an outstanding track-record as a leader both within the Martell Group, as one of its founding members, and in the broader community, seeking out extracurricular opportunities to advocate for mentoring in STEM.

Eric joined us as the DBC’s social media organizer last spring. He has done an exceptional job running the division’s LinkedIn and Twitter/X pages throughout the last year and we could not be more proud of him for receiving this well-deserved recognition!

Be sure to stop by our social media pages to send Eric your congratulations!
